COME JOIN THE CHORUS! Greater New Bedford Choral Society Open Rehearsals Begin September 9th, 2025
Experience the joy of singing with GNBCS–everyone is welcome–no auditions necessary! Attend an open rehearsal to find out what it’s like to sing with us on Tuesday, September 9, 16, or 23 at 6:45 pm.
GNBCS is a non-audition SATB choir under the direction of Raymond Buttero. Open rehearsals on September 9, 16, and 23 allow new members to experience singing with GNBCS and decide if they wish to continue. We rehearse Tuesday nights from 6:45 pm to 8:30 pm at First Unitarian Church in New Bedford.
Our winter concert is planned for Sunday, December 7th at 3:00 pm. It will feature Rutter’s Gloria and a varied selection of pieces celebrating the different holidays of the season, ranging from original compositions to works by women composers.
GNBCS has been bringing classical choral music to listeners in southeastern Massachusetts since its founding in 1964. We are a four-part chorus with members from surrounding communities including Westport, Dartmouth, Acushnet, Lakeville, New Bedford, and Fairhaven.
We present one winter concert in either December or January, and another in the spring. Our concerts typically include one major choral work plus a selection of shorter pieces chosen for the season of the year and are performed in area churches. We have combined with the New Bedford Symphony, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Chorus, and other area choral societies to perform larger works.
