    Join more than 1,000 runners, walkers, families, and community members for a joyful community celebration in support of women, families, and gender equity across the SouthCoast. We’re excited to welcome you to the 16th Annual Women’s Fund SouthCoast Mother’s Day 5K Walk & Run, taking place at Cisco Brewers New Bedford on Sunday, May 10 at 10:00 AM with a kids dash at 9:30am. What began over a decade ago as a volunteer-inspired road race has grown into our largest annual community event—bringing people together across generations to move, connect, and give back. Proceeds from the Mother’s Day 5K fuel our mission to advance gender, racial, and economic justice through research, grantmaking and advocacy throughout the region.

  • Buzzards Bay Swim

    Kick off summer at the 33rd annual Buzzards Bay Swim! Once a year, the New Bedford Harbor shipping channel closes to all boat traffic so that hundreds of swimmers of all ages and abilities can make the unforgettable 1.2-mile open water crossing from New Bedford to Fairhaven. Assisted by a robust on-water safety team, swimmers navigate the scenic route past Butler Flats Lighthouse and through the New Bedford Hurricane Barrier before reaching the finish at Fort Phoenix. There, a lively beach party awaits with cheering crowds, live music, pancakes cooked to order, gourmet coffee, and local beer. All swimmers commit to raising funds to support clean water. Your $35 registration fee and $300 fundraising minimum ($150 for youth and lifeguards) include shuttle service, parking, food and beverages, a commemorative event t-shirt, event swim cap, and a custom-made finisher’s medal.
