Weaving and Writing with Arghavan Booyeh

New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park 33 William Street, New Bedford, United States

We need your voice! Join Artist-in-Residence Arghavan Booyeh for a free, interactive weaving and writing workshop that invites New Bedford residents to help create a powerful community artwork celebrating the city’s rich textile and maritime heritage. Inspired by the structure of a loom, this sculptural piece will incorporate fishing ropes to honor New Bedford’s seafaring legacy and fabric strips to represent the city’s deep ties to the textile industry. Participants are encouraged to write short personal stories, reflections, or messages of hope on the fabric strips, which will be woven together to form a vibrant, collective tapestry of memory, identity, and connection. All ages and writing levels welcome - add your voice to this living tribute to New Bedford’s past and future!
