Ilha Di Li: Picturing the 11th Island – Photography Micro-Exhibits

The Cabo Verdean Heritage Month Coalition is pleased to announce that we will be hosting a series of micro-exhibits throughout New Bedford during the month of July. Curated by Iva Brito and Maia Livramento, the exhibit will center the theme of “the 11th Island” as seen through a Cabo Verdean lens — in other words, what the U.S. diaspora looks like from a Cabo Verdean aesthetic and experiential perspective.

Starting July 1st, take a closer look at windows throughout town — including at Celia’s Boutique, the Star Store, 3rd EyE, and the Underground Railroad Café — for work by local Cabo Verdean photographers and visual artists.

“Ilha Di Li” is supported by the New England Foundation for the Arts’ Public Art for Spatial Justice program, with funding from the Barr Foundation and the Fund for the Arts at NEFA.
