Arts Illuminated’s next live art talk show: Looking at the dark side

Area artists reveal the dark side of their imaginations at the next Arts Illuminated live talk show and sale, on Thursday, Oct. 8, at the Steeple Playhouse in New Bedford.

Hosted by The New Bedford Light, this unique event features short sessions with selected creators, framed by samples of their work.

In the eerie spirit of the Halloween season expect the unexpected, from the spooky to the macabre. You’ll learn about the artists’ backgrounds, methods and inspirations, during lively interviews conducted by local art entrepreneur Devin “Nived” McLaughlin.

In a first, the free show will be held in conjunction with AHA! Night in New Bedford. Are you going? Drop in to the Steeple Playhouse at 159 William St. after 6 p.m. for a stimulating evening exploring the creative process.

Stay for our signature Afterglow reception, where you can mingle with the artists, browse works up close, buy directly, and enjoy refreshments.

Find out more about the Arts Illuminated project, watch video clips of interviews from previous shows, and sign up for our free Arts Illuminated newsletter, all on The Light’s Arts Illuminated page.

Are you an artist interested in applying to share the stage? You can do that here; deadline to apply for the upcoming show is Friday, Sept. 25.
