Wood Street Jazz band to play in Acoustic Jazz Series
New Bedford JazzFest (NBJF) continues its Acoustic Jazz Series on Sunday, August 24 with the Wood Street Jazz Band. The concert will take place from 4:00-6:00 PM at the newly renovated venue, the historic Steeple Playhouse, 159 William Street, New Bedford. Tickets are available at steepleplayhouse.org. The event will feature live acoustic jazz in an informal setting, as well as insightful questions and conversation with the band.
Wood Street Jazz is a Rhode Island jazz quintet steeped in the rich history of soul-stirring grooves and irresistible rhythms. Take in their well-crafted renditions of jazz standards, as well as bop stylings and floating improvisation.
The band is comprised of James Winner on saxophone, Louis LoCicero and Felix “Funky Cat” Rentschler on guitars, Tom Vieira on bass, and Raruekchon “Zang” Piyachotsakulchai on drums.
Early bird tickets are $22-$25, with general admission $27 at the door. All tickets are available at steepleplayhouse.org. The festival takes place rain or shine, as it is indoors. The building is completely accessible to all, and there is free parking on the street, as well as in the adjacent parking lot and Elm Street Parking Garage.
Doors will open at 3:30 PM. There will be concessions and soft drinks available for purchase.
