Shakespeare in New Bedford Presents: Romeo & Juliet

Rotch-Jones-Duff House & Garden Museum 396 County Street, New Bedford, MA, United States

Celebrating another year of bringing the Bard’s most poignant plays to audiences of all ages and walks of life at the RJD, Reverie Theatre Group presents an unforgettable adaptation of Shakespeare’s most iconic work, Romeo & Juliet. This August, Reverie will meld this iconic love story with local history by “laying the scene” in New Bedford’s own Golden Age of whaling. Join Reverie for another summer of free, accessible Shakespeare in the garden. Donations are accepted in lieu of a fee. Directed by Lauren Katherine Pothier and Alexander P. Sprague. The Sunday performances at 2:00pm are sensory friendly, where patrons will find spacious seating that encourages the ability to move around, relaxed technical elements, and a helpful content warning guide with real-time warnings that don’t disrupt the performance. While sensory friendly performances are beneficial for the neurodivergent community, they are also useful for families with small children, the elderly, or people who find engaging with theatre in traditional ways not accessible. Audiences are encouraged to use the sensory friendly performances in any way they would like. August 7,8,9, 14, 15, 16 at 7:30 PM August 10 & 17 at 2 PM This program is supported in part by grants from […]
