    Join us for Creative Canvas Club, a fun and welcoming series designed for young artists who are new to painting or looking to build their skills. Led by artist Devin McLaughlin, this beginner-focused class encourages creativity, exploration, and confidence through paint. Each session offers a guided painting experience for those who enjoy step-by-step instruction, while also giving students the freedom to experiment and create their own original work. Whether following along or free painting, students will develop foundational techniques while exploring their own artistic voice in a supportive, low-pressure environment. *All materials are included.*

  • Figure Drawing Open Studio

    Drawing from a live model has been an important part of many formal artistic practices since the Renaissance. Our open figure drawing studio is intended to provide artists of all levels a relaxed environment and a dedicated space where they are able to continue the tradition of working from a live nude model. Sessions are three hours long, and will start with a series of short gestures and ranging from 5-10 minutes before moving into longer 30 minute poses. Each class typically concludes with an hour long pose. There will be no formal instruction during the class; artists are encouraged to work from the model independently, in any medium they wish to bring.

    SnapLab: Photography Studio Sessions is a hands-on introductory photography course designed for teens and adults interested in building confidence with photography, creative storytelling, and visual composition. Through guided instruction, collaborative studio sessions, and real-world photo walks, participants will explore the foundations of digital photography while developing their own artistic perspective. Each session combines technical learning with creative experimentation, covering topics such as composition, lighting, editing, and image selection in an approachable and supportive environment. Participants will apply new skills through guided photo walks throughout New Bedford before returning to the Museum for collaborative critique, editing, and discussion. The program also includes a free introductory community photo walk on July 11, offering participants and newcomers an opportunity to explore photography in a relaxed, social setting before the full course begins. SnapLab is designed not only to teach photography skills, but also to foster a growing creative community where emerging photographers can connect, collaborate, and build confidence together.
