Bullard’s memoir is the story of a young man’s decision to save the world by fixing up his hometown.
Whether acting as a federal or local leader, his actions were motivated by the pressing concerns of the times and the wants and needs of the South Coast community.
John Bullard is a native of New Bedford, Massachusetts. His ancestry includes many of the city’s first families. He has family links to the James Arnold mansion (Wamsutta Club.) James Arnold’s wife, Sarah Rotch Arnold and John are both descended from William Rotch, Jr., a whaling merchant who for decades was the wealthiest man in New Bedford. He is looking forward to talking in a house that meant so much to his family.
John and his wife, Laurie, now live in nearby Westport and have three children and five grandchildren. Hometown is his first book.
