City Tree Lightings

City Tree Lightings

Each year, the City of New Bedford lights two holiday trees, one in downtown New Bedford in front of the Free Public Library and one in Clasky Common Park. The New Bedford High School marching band performs at each tree lighting and hot cocoa is served.
-The downtown tree will be lit on Saturday, December 6, at 5 PM, following a short parade leading the crowd to gather on Pleasant Street in front of the library. The theme for this year’s event is Dr. Seuss and the special guest, The Grinch, will be roaming the crowd. Students from Taylor Elementary School crafted special ornaments for the tree. Miss New Bedford and Miss Teen New Bedford will lead a sing-along. Free hot cocoa will be provided by Community Services and New Life Southcoast.

-The lighting of the tree at Clasky Common will take place on Sunday, December 7, at 5PM. Stroll through the commons to view the display of classic decorations.
