Downtown Holiday Tree Lighting
Each year, the City of New Bedford lights up the season with a stunning 30-foot Christmas tree, beautifully decorated and displayed on the steps of the downtown New Bedford Free Public Library. This donated tree is illuminated after the annual Christmas parade, featuring festive performances by the New Bedford High School marching band, local entertainers, and a special holiday greeting from Santa and Mrs. Claus!
AHA! NBfestive
Each month, New Bedford’s AHA! Night transforms downtown with vibrant arts and cultural experiences. December’s AHA! Night will brighten your holiday spirit with free, family-friendly programming. Museums, galleries, and businesses will stay open late and provide activities for all ages – from kid-centered crafts to captivating performances for adults. With carolers, live music, twinkling lights, and festive cheer, the evening will surely make your season shine.
Shop Local Gifts
This winter check out New Bedford’s shops for the perfect holiday gifts. You won’t find many chain stores here in the city and that’s what makes shopping in New Bedford special. Shopping local means discovering something unique whether its handmade jewelry, vintage clothing, original art, rare antiques or books, or traditional herbs and holistic remedies from the local apothecary.
Now more than ever it’s important to support the small businesses that make New Bedford so special!
