Downtown Christmas Tree Lighting
Each year, the City of New Bedford lights up the season with a stunning 30-foot Christmas tree, beautifully decorated and displayed on the steps of the downtown New Bedford Free Public Library. This donated tree is illuminated after the annual Christmas parade, featuring festive performances by the New Bedford High School marching band, local entertainers, and a special holiday greeting from Santa and Mrs. Claus!
AHA! Starry Night
Each month, New Bedford’s AHA! Night transforms downtown with vibrant arts and cultural experiences. December’s theme, ‘Starry Night,” will brighten your holiday spirit with free, family-friendly programming. Museums, galleries, and businesses will stay open late and provide activities for all ages – from kid-centered crafts to captivating performances for adults. Cozy up by the fire pit and behold the Custom House building transform into a giant snow globe! With carolers, live music, twinkling lights, and festive cheer, the evening will surely make your season shine.
